If, as you said, it was only the drivers side, then replacing the core didn't do a thing and the issue will likely return. Over the last year I have had issues with my Jeep overheating and losing coolant. It is a 2012 JK Sport. It is currently out of warranty. Last year the Jeep overheated pretty good, starting off as a little higher than normal and then over a few months going to 3/4 temp.Kept getting 0301 and 0306 codes and a rough idle after changing plugs coil packs. Also purchased 1 injector to try and locate a common cylinder issue. Still throwing the check engine light with same cylinder misfires coded. Pulled the plugs and regapped them .005-.007 over and a miracle occurred.

It seems that there are more complaints from owners with 12 plus 3.6 JK's running hot, but in most instances it's normal. The variable speed fan is a better set up than prior year JK's. When the engine is hot and the fan clutch is HOT, from the hot air coming through the radiator, it should be engaged (very difficult to spin by hand). If the engine is cooled down and your fan clutch is cool, it should NOT be engaged (much easier to spin by hand).
